Beijing West Railway Station was opened in early 1996 after three years of construction, covering an area of 51 hectares, it is one of the largest railway stations in Asia. the whole building complex assume the shape of the Chinese character '品'. Its operation commenced in October 1995, and the station was expanded in 2000 and is now able to handle 300,000 passengers per day and also had a vast amount parking lots added.
Trains departing from Beijing West leave for destinations to the Central South China, South China, Southwest China and Northwest China. The construction of this station has greatly relieved the transportation pressure of Beijing Railway Station. Many trains depart from and arrive at this particular station, transporting more than 100,000 passengers a day. About 200,000 passengers would have gone through the station at its peak hours in a day, making it the nation's largest and busiest passenger station. The well-known Jingjiu Railway Line, serving from Beijing to Kowloon, begins at this station, which incidentally has vast parking lots for passengers' convenience.

Luggage Issue, Ticket Booking and Entrance Guide
Beijing West Train Station has two front squares: the Southern Square (close to Lianhuachi Park) and the Northern Saquare (close to China Millennium Monument). Entrance passes and ticket booking windows are located in the Northern Saquare. If you happen to get to the Southern Saquare, you should walk to the Northern Saquare through the underground tunnel to get into the Train Station Hall.
Passengers should pick their luggages at the west side of the west wing in the Northern Square and forward luaggages at the east side of the east wing in the Northern Square.
Special Waiting Rooms: Sleeper ticket holders can relax themselves at the east side of the entrance hall on the 2nd floor.
T27 waiting room is dedicated for passengers to Lhasa of Tibet.
How to get to Beijing West Train Station from Beijing Airport
- By Airport Shuttle Bus: Passengers can take Airport Shuttle Bus No. 7 line from Beijing Capital Airport to Beijing West Railway Station directly. Operating hours are from 7:20am to 12:00pm. Journey time is 60 minutes and ticket fare is RMB 16 Yuan. Destination of No. 7 line is at the south square of Beijing West Railway Station. .
- By Taxi: Passenger can also take a taxi from Beijing airport to the West Station. Minimum riding distance between the two places is 34km. It takes about 50 minutes by taxi if the traffic is good and cost is more than RMB 100 Yuan (for reference only!).
- By Subway: Passengers can take Beijing Subway Airport Express to Dongzhimen station, transfer to subway line 2 (loop line) Chaoyangmen Station, then transfer to subway line 6 Baishiqiao Nan Station, transfer to subway line 9 to West train station.

- By Bus: Passenger can take No. 9 (360m east of Beijing Train Station), No. 122, No. 673 , No. Te 2 or No. 52 from Beijing Central Train Station to Beijing West Train Station.
- By Subway: Passenger can take the subway line 2 from Beijing Train Station to Changchunjie station and then change bus line 54 for Beijing West Train Station.
How to get to Beijing West Station from Beijing South Station
- By Subway: Passengers can take Subway line 4 to Pinganli station, then transfer to subway line 6 Baishiqiao Nan Station, transfer to subway line 9 to Beijing West train station.

- By Bus: Passenger can take Bus line 694, 387 or 21 from Xizhimen South bus stop (670 south of Beijing North Station) To Beijing West Train Station.
