Beijing North Railway Station, formerly known as Xizhimen Railway Station, built in 1906 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) as one of the original stations on the the famous Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, the first railway of China, starts from this station and provides an important access to the northwest of Beijing; they were both designed and inspected by Zhan Tianyou, the first railway engineer of China.

Beijing North Train Station was re-constructed in 2005 and re-started operation in the beginning of 2009. It is now acting as the departure & terminal station for Jingbao (Beijing-Baotou) Railway, Jingtong (Beijing-Tongliao) Railway. Passengers to Chifeng, Tongliao of Inner Mongolia, Yanqing county, Badaling Great Wall should depart from this station.

How to get to Beijing North Train Station from Beijing Airport

  • By subway: Take Beijing Subway Airport Express to Dongzhimen station and then change subway line 2 (loop line) for Xizhimen Station. You can see Beijing North Railway Station 100 meters away after walking out from A2 exit of Xizhimen Subway Station.
  • By taxi: The shortest riding distance between Beijing Capital Airport and the North Train Station is 28km. Riding time is 40 minutes and fare is RMB 80 Yuan for a taxi.
